SOHO Sites
Services for AOL Hometown Users
AOL Announces End of Web hosting for Members' Websites
On Friday, October 31st, AOL will discontinue web hosting
support for members using its Hometown service. This means that your
website will no longer be accessible by other members, or by people
surfing the world wide web. In essence, AOL is "turning off" AOL
Hometown.
What does this mean?
Basically your website hosted on AOL will no longer be
viewable by members or web surfers. If you blog, post pictures, or
have a website for your business, it will be "gone."
There is much confusion about this move, even though
AOL announced its plans to discontinue this service several months
ago. To clarify one issue, AOL e-mail services are not effected. So,
while your website will be gone, you will still be able to send and
receive AOL e-mail as usual.
How can we help you?
SOHO Business Enterprises' SOHOSites can help you copy
your website. If you don't have a back-up of your website, you would
need to redo it. Copying your website can save you time, and in the
case of a business, money. Remember, unless there is a change, you
only have until October 31st to do this.
We can help you find a place to host your website. There
are many outfits which host small websites. We can make suggestions
based on your needs, and even get you started by helping you to publish
up your webpages.
We can even host your website. SOHOSites' focus is the
small business, and we can host, publish, maintain and develop your
website. We do the work that you would do if you had the skills—and
the time!
Contact us as soon as possible.
Whichever way you choose to communicate, be sure to state that you
are an AOL Hometown user, so that we can escalate your issue and get
back
to you
right
away.
